At a glance
You may be living with ADHD, autism or other neurodivergent experiences and finding that your emotions, energy or thinking patterns can sometimes be difficult to understand or manage.
Neurodiverse psychotherapy gives you space to understand these patterns, including experiences such as overwhelm, anxiety, exhaustion or feeling different from those around you.
Together, we work towards greater self-understanding and self-acceptance, while finding practical and emotional ways of living that work better for you.

An experienced psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and EFT couples therapy in Copenhagen
I am a certified psychotherapist (M.A.), the highest professional level recognised in both Denmark and England, and I work from my private practice in central Copenhagen as well as online.
For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across multiple countries and cultural contexts. My work integrates depth-oriented psychotherapy with a calm, grounded Danish presence.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have continued advanced training in couples therapy, supervision, and relational work. I am recently completed Master Class Further Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT therapy) for couples.
The importance of supervision
Good therapy begins with good supervision
I regularly meet with experienced senior psychotherapists in Denmark and abroad to reflect on my work, challenge my thinking, and continue developing my skills. This ongoing process supports the quality of my individual, couples, and family therapy, helping me offer thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.
My focus is simple: excellence, integrity, and impact.

When you may need neurodiverse psychotherapy
You may have spent years coping, adapting and pushing through. But something is becoming harder to carry, and you want to understand what is happening rather than simply trying harder.
You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis before coming to see me. You may already know that you are autistic or have ADHD, you may be questioning whether you are neurodivergent, or you may simply recognise that you experience emotions, relationships, sensory demands or everyday life differently from many of the people around you.
In my experience, people often reach out when the strategies that have kept them functioning are no longer enough. I help you understand what is happening underneath the overwhelm, anxiety, shutdown, conflict or exhaustion so that you can stop fighting yourself and begin finding ways of living that actually work for you.
When everyday life is taking more out of you than it should
You may be managing work, relationships and ordinary responsibilities from the outside while privately feeling exhausted by them. Noise, interruptions, changing plans, social demands or simply having too many things competing for your attention can leave you depleted long before anybody else notices.
I help you identify what is draining your capacity and what happens before you become overwhelmed. You can begin recognising your limits earlier, protecting your energy more deliberately and building a life that does not depend upon repeatedly pushing yourself beyond what you can sustain.
When you want closeness and distance at the same time
You may desperately want connection and then feel overwhelmed when somebody gets too close. You might reach for reassurance one moment and pull away the next, or find yourself caught between wanting to be understood and wanting everybody to leave you alone.
I help you make sense of these apparently contradictory reactions without reducing you to an attachment label. When you understand what activates the different parts of your response, you can begin making choices instead of being repeatedly pulled between pursuit, withdrawal and overwhelm.
When anxiety makes you reach for certainty
Uncertainty can become extraordinarily difficult when you are already overloaded. You may replay conversations, analyse somebody’s tone, seek reassurance, worry that you have done something wrong or feel unable to settle until you know exactly where you stand.
I help you understand what happens when fear takes over and your system starts urgently searching for safety. We work on helping you tolerate uncertainty without abandoning your genuine need for connection, clarity or reassurance.
When you shut down, withdraw or need to escape
Sometimes your response to pressure is the opposite. You may become quiet, numb, irritable or suddenly desperate to be alone. Conversation can feel like another demand, particularly when somebody wants an emotional response from you before you have had enough time to understand what you are feeling.
I do not assume that withdrawal means you do not care. I help you understand what your system may be protecting you from and find ways of creating space without disappearing completely from the people who matter to you.
When relationships keep becoming harder than you expect
You may care deeply about other people and still find relationships exhausting. Misunderstood tone, different communication styles, difficulty identifying what you need, conflict, boundaries or the pressure to respond immediately can turn relatively ordinary moments into painful disconnection.
I help you slow those interactions down and understand your part without automatically making you responsible for everything that happens between you. You can become clearer about what belongs to you, what belongs to the other person and what you need in order to communicate and relate without continually overriding yourself.
When you are questioning who you are underneath all the adapting
Perhaps you have become so good at reading the room, performing competence or becoming what other people need that you are no longer certain where adaptation ends and you begin. A diagnosis or late recognition of neurodivergence can intensify that question: suddenly parts of your history make sense, while other parts need to be reconsidered.
I give you somewhere to explore that without deciding in advance who you are supposed to become. You do not need to emerge as a better version of somebody else’s idea of normal. The work is to understand yourself more accurately, decide what genuinely matters to you and build from there.
If you want to know whether my way of working fits you, book a free 30-minute discovery call. We can talk about what brings you to therapy and whether my way of working feels right for you.

What neurodiverse psychotherapy can help you do
Understanding your neurodivergence matters, but understanding alone is not enough. I help you turn that understanding into practical changes in how you live, relate and take care of yourself.
I am not interested in teaching you how to appear less neurodivergent. I want to understand how your particular mind, emotions and nervous system work — where life fits you well, where you repeatedly struggle and where you may have spent years forcing yourself to function in ways that cost you too much.
In my experience, meaningful change often begins when you stop asking, “What is wrong with me?” and start asking better questions. What overwhelms me? What do I actually need? What happens when I feel threatened or rejected? What am I trying to protect? Together, we turn those answers into changes you can actually use outside the therapy room.
Understand your own neurodivergence more clearly
A diagnosis can explain a great deal without automatically explaining you. Two autistic people or two people with ADHD can experience themselves very differently. Your sensory profile, emotional life, relationships, history, temperament and ways of coping all matter.
I help you build a much more individual understanding of yourself. You begin recognising what drains you, what regulates you, what you have learned to hide and what you genuinely need, so that your decisions can be based less on what you think you should manage and more on what actually works.
Make sense of contradictory emotional reactions
Sometimes neither reaching nor withdrawing describes the whole experience. You may want somebody close and then feel threatened by their closeness. You may trust them and simultaneously expect to be hurt, or find yourself moving rapidly between vulnerability, anger, reassurance-seeking and shutting down.
I help you slow those shifts down enough to understand what each reaction is trying to accomplish. You can begin recognising when old protective responses have been activated and develop more choice about how you respond when closeness feels both deeply wanted and frightening.
Recognise when anxiety is driving you
When your attachment system is activated, your mind may become extremely good at searching for danger. A delayed message, a change in somebody’s tone or uncertainty in a relationship can trigger hours of analysis, reassurance-seeking or fear that something important is about to disappear.
I help you recognise that escalation earlier and separate what is actually happening from what fear is predicting. You can learn to respond to your need for connection without allowing anxiety to make every decision for you.
Regulate overwhelm before you reach your limit
Many people become skilled at noticing overwhelm only after they have already crossed the line. By then you may be unable to think clearly, tolerate another demand, communicate what you need or understand why something apparently small has affected you so strongly.
I help you learn your earlier signals. Together we identify the sensory, emotional, relational and practical pressures that build in your system and develop ways of responding before exhaustion, shutdown or emotional flooding has to force everything to stop.
Understand shutdown and withdrawal without judging yourself
You may protect yourself very differently. When demands, conflict or emotional intensity become too much, you may need distance. Words disappear, your feelings become inaccessible or even a simple conversation can feel intrusive and impossible.
I help you understand withdrawal as information rather than immediately treating it as failure. We look at what overwhelms you, what helps your system recover and how you can communicate your need for space without having to vanish, explode or remain trapped in situations you cannot process.
Build a life that fits you better
Therapy should eventually make a difference outside therapy. You may need clearer boundaries, different expectations of yourself, changes in relationships, more realistic ways of organising your day or permission to stop maintaining parts of your life simply because you have always managed them.
I help you work out what needs to change and what does not. The goal is not to remove your neurodivergence. It is to help you live with greater self-understanding, stronger boundaries and more freedom to build a life that fits the person you actually are.

What happens when you come to neurodiverse psychotherapy
You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis, the right words or a perfectly organised explanation. I start with you, what is happening now and what you want help with.
When you come to see me, I do not begin by trying to fit you into a diagnostic description. I want to understand how you experience your life: what overwhelms you, what repeatedly gets difficult, how you respond under pressure and what you have already tried to change.
I adapt the pace and structure of our work to you while still keeping therapy purposeful. Sometimes we need to slow things right down. Sometimes I will challenge you. Sometimes we work very practically. The point is to create a therapy that helps you understand yourself and make changes you can actually carry into your life.
Start with what is difficult right now
Your first session begins with what has brought you through the door. You may be exhausted, struggling in a relationship, questioning whether you are neurodivergent, recovering from prolonged overwhelm or simply aware that the way you have been living is becoming unsustainable.
I help you sort through what is happening and decide where we need to begin. You do not have to tell me your entire life story before we can do useful work. We start where the pressure is greatest and build our understanding from there.
Work at a pace your system can actually tolerate
Therapy is not useful if the therapy itself repeatedly overwhelms you. If you need more time to process a question, clearer language, more structure or space before answering, I can adapt how we work without treating those needs as obstacles.
At the same time, I will not confuse accommodation with avoiding difficult material. I offer you enough safety and structure to stay with experiences that matter, while respecting the point at which pushing harder simply stops being therapeutic.
Understand emotions, patterns and relationships together
I am interested in more than the immediate symptom. Anxiety, shutdown, anger, exhaustion or relationship difficulties usually make more sense when we understand the emotional and relational patterns around them, including the ways you have learned to seek safety, closeness or distance.
If your main difficulty is happening between you and your partner, we may decide that couples therapy Copenhagen is the better setting for some of the work. We can make that decision based on what will actually help rather than forcing every problem into individual psychotherapy.
Decide what kind of support you need
You may come for one specific difficulty and discover that you want deeper work. Or you may need focused support around a particular period and then feel ready to continue without me. I do not assume before meeting you how long therapy should last.
If you know you want continuity or prefer to plan several sessions ahead, you can also look at my therapy bundles. Whatever format you choose, I want the amount and intensity of therapy to serve the work rather than creating dependency on it.
Turn insight into changes outside the therapy room
Understanding why something happens can be enormously relieving, but eventually I want that understanding to change something. We may work with boundaries, communication, sensory demands, emotional regulation, relationships, expectations of yourself or the situations in which you repeatedly override your own limits.
For some people, this remains focused individual therapy Copenhagen. I help you experiment with realistic changes between sessions and then look together at what actually happened, so therapy becomes connected to the life you are trying to live rather than becoming an interesting conversation you have once a week.
Know when the work has done its job
Good psychotherapy should gradually give you more ownership of your life, not make you feel that you cannot manage without your therapist. Over time, I look with you at what has actually changed: what you understand now, what you handle differently and where you have more freedom of choice.
You may eventually need me less often or not at all. That is not therapy ending because something has gone wrong. For me, it is often evidence that something has gone right.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly can I book a session?
You can usually book a session within a few days, depending on my availability. You can book directly online, or request a free 30-minute discovery call if you would prefer to speak with me first.
If you are looking for an appointment quickly, contact me. I will tell you what I can realistically offer rather than leave you wondering.
What happens in the first session?
I start by listening. I want to understand what has brought you to therapy, what is difficult right now, and what you would like to be different.
You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis, a perfectly organised story, or a clear explanation of what is happening. Part of my job is to help you make sense of it.
By the end of the first session, we should both have a clearer understanding of what you need and whether I am the right therapist to help you.
Do you offer a free thirty minute call before I book?
Yes. I offer a free 30-minute discovery call if you would like to speak with me before deciding whether to begin therapy.
You can tell me briefly what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions about how I work, and get a sense of me as a therapist. I can also tell you whether I believe my experience and approach are appropriate for what you need.
There is no obligation to book afterwards.
Do I need an ADHD or autism diagnosis to work with you?
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis.
You may already know that you are autistic or have ADHD. You may be waiting for an assessment, questioning whether you are neurodivergent, or simply recognising patterns in yourself that you want to understand.
I work with the person sitting in front of me, not with a diagnostic label. We can explore what you experience and what you need without requiring you to prove that you belong in a particular category.
Do you offer online neurodiverse psychotherapy?
Yes. I work both in person from my practice in central Copenhagen and online.
Some clients prefer being physically in the room with me. Others find that working from their own environment reduces the effort involved in travelling, transitioning between places or managing sensory demands.
We can find the format that works best for you.
Are our sessions confidential?
Yes. What you tell me in psychotherapy is confidential, and I handle your personal information in accordance with my professional ethical obligations and applicable data-protection requirements.
Confidentiality matters because psychotherapy requires room to say things that may be difficult, contradictory, uncomfortable or unfinished. I want you to be able to explore those parts of your experience without having to present a polished version of yourself.
How will I know if the therapy is helping?
I don’t measure good psychotherapy by whether you become less neurodivergent. That isn’t the aim.
Instead, we look together at what is changing. Perhaps you recognise overwhelm earlier. Perhaps you communicate a boundary instead of pushing yourself beyond it. You may understand an emotional reaction that previously confused you, recover differently after difficult situations, or become less critical of yourself.
Over more than two decades as a psychotherapist, I have learned to pay attention to these changes with clients. Sometimes progress is dramatic. More often, it appears in small changes that gradually alter how you live.
Can I speak with you in English if I am an expat?
Yes. I work in English as well as Danish, and a substantial part of my practice involves international clients living in Copenhagen.
Living in another country can add another layer to questions about identity, belonging, relationships and feeling different. You do not need to translate yourself into Danish before you can talk about any of that with me.
Can neurodiverse psychotherapy help with relationships and work?
Yes. Neurodivergence does not exist separately from the rest of your life. It can affect how you communicate, respond to conflict, recognise your limits, manage expectations, experience closeness and function under pressure.
I will help you understand the patterns that appear in your relationships and working life and distinguish between what you may need to accept about yourself and what you genuinely want to change.
If the central difficulty is within your intimate relationship rather than primarily within your individual experience, we can also consider whether couples therapy in Copenhagen would be a better fit.
How do I know when it is time to end therapy?
Therapy does not need to continue indefinitely.
Throughout our work, we can talk openly about whether it is still useful and what you are getting from it. As you understand yourself better and become increasingly able to use what we have worked on without my help, we may decide together that sessions can become less frequent or come to an end.
My aim is not to make you dependent on therapy.
My aim is to help you reach the point where you need less from me because you have more access to yourself.
