An experienced psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and EFT couples therapy in Copenhagen
I am a certified psychotherapist (M.A.), the highest professional level recognised in both Denmark and England, and I work from my private practice in central Copenhagen as well as online.
For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across multiple countries and cultural contexts. My work integrates depth-oriented psychotherapy with a calm, grounded Danish presence.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have continued advanced training in couples therapy, supervision, and relational work. I am recently completed Master Class Further Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT therapy) for couples.
The importance of supervision
Good therapy begins with good supervision
I regularly meet with experienced senior psychotherapists in Denmark and abroad to reflect on my work, challenge my thinking, and continue developing my skills. This ongoing process supports the quality of my individual, couples, and family therapy, helping me offer thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.
My focus is simple: excellence, integrity, and impact.

This is when you need divorce therapy with me
Something between you has become difficult despite your best efforts, and continuing as you are is making the relationship less safe.
You need divorce therapy when the crisis is shaping how you speak, sleep, work, parent or imagine the future. There is no perfect threshold you must cross before asking for help. If either of you feels that something is seriously wrong, that trust is breaking down or that ordinary conversations no longer work, that is enough reason to act.
In more than 21 years of practice, I have learned that couples in crisis need clarity before they need more analysis. In sessions, I usually begin by identifying what is escalating the situation, what each of you is protecting and what must stop immediately. I will help you understand what is happening and establish a direction that both of you can evaluate.
Is the conflict becoming impossible to contain?
Yes, you need help when arguments continue long after either of you can think clearly, when the same dispute repeatedly returns or when silence feels as hostile as shouting. You may be monitoring every word, avoiding the house, losing sleep or trying to carry on normally while the relationship dominates your attention.
I will help you separate the focused trigger from the cycle that keeps expanding it. We will identify what must be contained, what needs to be said and what cannot be resolved while either of you is overwhelmed. If this is already affecting daily life, book a session with me rather than waiting for another escalation.
Do you keep reaching for each other and making things worse?
You can both want the relationship and still react in ways that push the other person further away. One of you may demand an answer while the other needs space. Attempts to secure closeness can then feel like pressure, while attempts to calm the situation through distance can feel like abandonment.
I help you understand the protective logic on both sides without pretending that every response is acceptable. The goal is not to decide whose need is correct. I will help you interrupt the sequence, communicate the need underneath the reaction and create choices that do not intensify the crisis.
Are you pursuing reassurance because the relationship feels unsafe?
Silence, distance or uncertainty can feel like evidence that the relationship is disappearing. You may ask the same question repeatedly, analyse your partner’s tone, demand focused certainty or feel unable to settle until reassurance finally feels convincing.
I help you calm the alarm underneath the pursuit and communicate what you need without forcing an answer that your partner cannot genuinely give. Your need for closeness is not the problem. The work is to stop fear from deciding how you seek it and to build reassurance that creates safety rather than further pressure.
Are you withdrawing because every conversation feels overwhelming?
Emotional intensity can feel intrusive, exhausting or impossible to answer correctly. You may become quiet, factual or distant, minimise the seriousness of the problem or leave the conversation because withdrawal seems like the only way to regain control.
I will help you understand what the distance protects you from and how its impact differs from your intention. You will not be told to tolerate unlimited emotional pressure. You will be expected to communicate your limits clearly, remain present where possible and return to the conversation rather than allowing space to become abandonment.
Are you moving between pursuit, anger and shutdown?
Both closeness and distance can feel unsafe. You may urgently seek contact, then push your partner away when contact arrives. The movement between pleading, attacking, withdrawing and becoming numb can be rapid enough that neither of you understands what just happened.
I slow this cycle down with you and identify what activates each shift. Compassion for the protective response does not remove responsibility for its impact. I help you create enough emotional and relational safety to make more consistent choices, repair harmful moments and stop the crisis from repeatedly recreating itself.
Are you questioning whether the relationship can survive?
You may no longer know whether you want to repair the relationship, leave it or simply stop the present pain. Betrayal, repeated conflict or prolonged disconnection can make every option feel frightening. You may also be adapting so completely to the crisis that you have lost contact with your own limits and values.
I will offer direction and professional challenge without deciding the future of your relationship for you. We will clarify what has happened, what each of you is prepared to take responsibility for and what evidence would make repair realistic. The aim is an informed decision, not pressure to stay together at any cost.
If the crisis is active now, request a call or book a session so that we can establish what kind of focused support you need.

What divorce therapy with me will help you do
Understanding why the crisis developed matters, but the work must also change how you respond to each other when the relationship is under pressure.
I will help you understand the cycle driving the crisis, recognise the moments when it takes over and make concrete changes in communication, boundaries and repair. Insight is useful only when it gives you a different way of responding at home.
My professional view is that focused work must be active and structured. I will listen carefully, but I will also interrupt destructive exchanges, challenge avoidance and name what each of you needs to take responsibility for. You will leave with a clearer understanding of the problem and the next actions required.
How will I help you understand the real crisis?
I will help you distinguish the central relationship injury from the arguments, accusations and defensive reactions surrounding it. The crisis may concern betrayal, trust, emotional abandonment, an impending separation or a pattern that has finally become intolerable.
I bring structure by identifying what is urgent, what is maintaining the crisis and what can wait until greater stability exists. I will give you my assessment rather than leaving you alone with competing explanations. You can book a session with me when you are ready to begin.
Can you stop the cycle before it takes over?
Yes. You can learn to recognise the first signs of the cycle before either of you reaches the point of shouting, pursuing, withdrawing or shutting down. Earlier recognition creates the moment in which a different response becomes possible.
I help you map the sequence precisely: what happens first, what meaning each of you assigns to it and which protective move follows. Recognition is not the endpoint. You will practise interrupting the cycle and returning to the issue in a way that the other person can actually receive.
How will you regulate the emotional intensity?
Regulation means staying present enough to understand what is happening and choose how to respond. It does not mean suppressing anger, grief or fear, and it does not require either of you to pretend that the relationship injury is smaller than it is.
I will help you recognise activation earlier and use specific ways of slowing it before the conversation becomes destructive. Both partners must practise these responses between sessions. therapy cannot work if the therapy room is the only place where either of you attempts to change the pattern.
Can you speak honestly without causing another explosion?
Yes, but honest communication requires more than saying everything you feel. You need to know what you are trying to communicate, what belongs to the present issue and what is being amplified by fear, shame or accumulated resentment.
I help you speak specifically, listen without preparing a defence and distinguish a boundary from a threat. I will challenge self-silencing, but I will also challenge communication that demands your partner regulate every emotion for you. The aim is contact, not victory.
How will you make a clear decision about what happens next?
Clearer decisions become possible when you separate panic, guilt and pressure from the evidence in front of you. You need to know whether there is accountability, willingness to change and enough emotional safety for repair to be realistic.
I will help you examine the consequences of staying, separating or postponing a decision while specific conditions are tested. I will offer my professional view and challenge avoidance, but I will not choose for you. The final decision must be one you can understand and take responsibility for.
What would a safer relationship require from both of you?
A safer relationship requires changes outside therapy. You may need clearer boundaries, different ways of handling conflict, greater transparency, protected time together or a more realistic agreement about what each of you can offer.
I help you decide what must change and how you will recognise whether it is changing. The goal is not to return to the relationship exactly as it was before the crisis. It is to build a relationship with greater honesty, responsibility and room for both partners to remain present.

What happens when you begin divorce therapy with me
You do not need a polished explanation before you arrive. I begin with what is happening now, what feels most important and what must become safer.
I begin by listening to both of you, identifying the focused crisis and giving the session a clear structure. You will not be expected to recount the entire history of the relationship before useful work begins. I will focus first on what is destabilising you now.
If one partner needs structured individual work, I may recommend psychotherapy with me. When both of you want sustained relational development beyond the focused crisis, couples therapy with me is the appropriate pathway. If you want continuity, significant savings and the safety of an agreed plan, review therapy discounts and bundles.
What happens in the first focused session?
I ask what brought the crisis to this point, what is most difficult now, what each of you fears and what has already been attempted. I will ensure that both perspectives are heard without allowing the session to become another uncontrolled argument.
Before the session ends, I will offer an initial understanding of the cycle and propose focused priorities. You can book an divorce therapy session directly or request a free discovery call if you need to clarify whether this format fits.
When does one partner need structured individual work?
Structured individual work is appropriate when one partner’s trauma, identity, boundaries, decisions or longstanding protective patterns require dedicated attention. It can also help when your partner is not ready to attend but you need to change your own position in the crisis.
I can provide this through structured individual psychotherapy with me. Individual therapy is not used to build a secret case against an absent partner. It focuses on your experience, responsibility and choices.
When should focused work become long-term couples therapy?
our work should become longer-term couples therapy when the focused crisis has stabilised but relational injuries, communication patterns or loss of trust still require sustained attention. Containment is not the same as healing.
You can continue into long-term couples therapy with me. We work with the cycle between you, the injuries underneath it and the repeated actions required to create a more secure relationship.
How frequently should you attend during a crisis?
During an active crisis, sessions usually need enough frequency to maintain continuity. Long gaps can allow the same cycle to intensify before either of you has had time to practise a different response.
I will recommend the pace I believe the situation requires. That may involve an extended first session, closely spaced appointments or a planned transition into regular couples therapy. I will also tell you when the work can safely become less frequent.
When does a structured therapy plan make sense?
A structured plan makes sense when you already know that one conversation will not be enough and you want protected time for several sessions. It reduces the pressure to decide after every appointment whether the work should continue.
therapy discounts and bundles provide significant savings and the safety of a structured plan. I will help you consider whether a bundle fits the likely scope and intensity rather than recommending one simply because it costs less.
How will you know when the focused work has done its job?
The focused phase has done its job when the crisis is contained enough for you to think, communicate and decide without repeatedly being pulled into the same emergency. This does not necessarily mean every relationship issue has been resolved.
I review progress openly and will not encourage unnecessary dependency. You may end the work, move into less frequent sessions or continue with long-term relational development. Returning later with a new difficulty does not mean the focused work failed.

Frequently asked questions
What is divorce therapy with you?
Divorce therapy Copenhagen is focused support for couples whose relationship crisis needs attention now. It prioritises stabilisation, clarity and focused next steps before longer-term relational work.
I work actively with the cycle between you, the injury or conflict driving the crisis and the responses that are making it harder. If the crisis becomes stable but deeper healing remains necessary, I may recommend long-term couples therapy with me.
When should we come to you for divorce therapy?
You need divorce therapy when the situation is affecting your ability to communicate, sleep, work, parent or make sound decisions about the relationship. You do not need to wait for a final rupture.
In more than 21 years of practice, I have seen how quickly untreated crises become entrenched. If either partner believes the present situation is serious and ordinary conversations are making it worse, I recommend seeking support now.
Can you help us after betrayal?
Yes. Divorce therapy can help contain the focused impact of betrayal, establish boundaries around disclosure and decide what both partners need before repair can begin.
I will not rush the injured partner towards forgiveness or allow endless interrogation to become the only form of contact. I help both of you distinguish focused safety, accountability and transparency from the longer process of rebuilding trust.
Can you help when one of us wants to leave?
Yes. Therapy can help when one partner is considering leaving, provided both of you can participate honestly enough to clarify what the uncertainty means.
I will not pressure either partner to stay. I help you understand whether the wish to leave is a settled decision, a protective response to unbearable conflict or a demand for change that has not yet been heard.
Can you help when one of us reaches out and the other pulls away?
Fear can make one of you pursue contact while overwhelm makes the other withdraw. You may also move rapidly between seeking closeness and pushing it away, turning uncertainty into a repeating emergency.
I help both of you recognise what is happening before it takes over, understand what each reaction protects and take responsibility for its impact. You need shared language for the cycle and a practical alternative.
What happens in our first divorce therapy session with you?
I begin with the current crisis, hear both perspectives and identify what is escalating the situation. I provide enough structure to prevent the session from becoming another version of the argument at home.
By the end, I aim to give you an initial formulation and clear priorities. You can book the first session or request a free discovery call.
How many divorce therapy sessions with you will we need?
I usually recommend enough sessions to contain the crisis and test whether both partners can begin responding differently. One session may provide clarity, but an active relational injury or repeated escalation normally requires continuity.
I review progress openly and will tell you whether I recommend further focused sessions, a planned bundle or a transition to longer-term couples therapy. I do not keep couples in an short-term format after the emergency has passed.
Should we attend together or begin separately?
Attend together when the relationship itself is the focus and both partners can participate without intimidation or focused danger. Separate individual work is more appropriate when one person first needs privacy to clarify boundaries, safety or a personal decision.
I will help you choose the format. psychotherapy with me provides structured individual work, while this service addresses the active crisis between both partners.
What does divorce therapy with you cost?
Couples sessions follow the current prices shown through my booking system and client information. Payment is made by invoice and bank transfer.
A bundle is appropriate when you expect several sessions and want significant savings and the safety of a structured plan. You can review therapy discounts and bundles before deciding.
