At a glance
Neurodiverse couples therapy is for couples whose different ways of thinking, feeling, communicating or responding to stress have begun to create distance, misunderstanding or repeated conflict.
I work with both of you to understand what happens between you — including differences in neurotype, emotional processing, sensory needs, attachment, communication and your individual histories. I do not begin from the assumption that either partner is the problem.
In our sessions, I help you slow difficult interactions down, recognise the patterns you get caught in and understand what each of you is experiencing underneath them. From there, we work on communication, emotional regulation, boundaries, closeness and practical ways of relating that make sense for both of you.
I bring more than 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist to this work. Sessions are available in person in Copenhagen and online, and you can book directly or request a free 30-minute discovery call before deciding whether you would like to work with me.

An experienced psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and EFT couples therapy in Copenhagen
I am a certified psychotherapist (M.A.), the highest professional level recognised in both Denmark and England, and I work from my private practice in central Copenhagen as well as online.
For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across multiple countries and cultural contexts. My work integrates depth-oriented psychotherapy with a calm, grounded Danish presence.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have continued advanced training in couples therapy, supervision, and relational work. I am recently completed Master Class Further Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT therapy) for couples.
The importance of supervision
Good therapy begins with good supervision
I regularly meet with experienced senior psychotherapists in Denmark and abroad to reflect on my work, challenge my thinking, and continue developing my skills. This ongoing process supports the quality of my individual, couples, and family therapy, helping me offer thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.
My focus is simple: excellence, integrity, and impact.

Common crises I help couples with from Møntergade
You might recognise your relationship here.
When partners think and feel differently, love can be strong but fragile. Misunderstandings grow easily, and both partners may feel unseen or blamed.
When communication misses the mark
- Literal or emotional language causes confusion
- One partner shuts down, the other pursues
- Conversations end with frustration, not repair
Therapy helps you create shared language and emotional rhythm.
When emotional needs clash
- One partner seeks closeness, the other needs space
- Sensory or social fatigue limits intimacy
- Care turns into pressure
We learn how to balance comfort and connection for both.
When trust feels uncertain
- Apologies do not land
- Doubt replaces openness
- Fear of rejection shapes every response
When fatigue replaces hope
- Everyday life feels like miscommunication
- You love each other but feel tired of trying
- You miss the ease you once had
In neurodiverse couples therapy, I help you rebuild safety and understanding so difference becomes connection rather than distance.

Thoughts about Neurodiverse couples therapy
In neurodiverse relationship dynamics, it often helps to pause and clarify what kind of support is truly needed. Here I explain how I approach this work in Copenhagen, why individual sessions can create stability and perspective, and how clarity and containment come before change. The aim is to restore orientation and reduce overwhelm, so the next steps are taken with steadiness rather than urgency.
When your relationship needs to make sense again
Neurodiverse relationships are powerful, creative, and full of depth. They can also feel overwhelming, confusing, or unpredictable when communication breaks down. You may love each other deeply yet struggle to understand each other’s ways of thinking, feeling, or reacting. You may find yourself caught in repeated cycles of misunderstanding, shutdown, or emotional intensity.
You are not broken. Your relationship is not broken. You simply need a map that fits your neurotypes.

What you can change together

- How you talk about emotions
- How you repair conflict
- How you slow down difficult conversations
- How you handle shutdowns or overload
- How you reconnect after distance
- How you support each other’s regulation
- How you stay grounded during stress
These changes strengthen the foundation of your relationship.
Why neurodiverse couples seek therapy
Many neurodiverse couples come to therapy because they feel stuck in patterns neither partner knows how to shift. Common reasons include:
- Shutdowns or distance after conflict
- Sensory overload that escalates fast
- Arguments caused by misunderstandings
- Difficulty expressing emotions clearly
- Different processing speeds
- Masking until one partner collapses
- One partner feeling unseen or exhausted
- The relationship swinging between closeness and distance
You may feel frustrated, confused, or unsure how to reach each other. Therapy helps you find a clear way forward.
Understanding the neurodiverse couple dynamic
Neurodiverse couples often follow a cycle that becomes easier to manage once it is mapped clearly.
Sensory overload
A partner becomes overwhelmed by noise, change, emotion, or intensity.
Shutdown
The overwhelmed partner becomes quiet, withdrawn, or distant to protect themselves.
Emotional pursuit
The other partner may seek clarity or reassurance fast, which raises pressure.
Mask collapse
A partner loses the capacity to pretend everything is fine.
Misinterpretation
Both see the other’s reaction as rejection, blame, or disconnection.
This cycle is not a failure. It is a pattern that can be changed once understood.
How attachment shapes your relationship
Attachment patterns show up strongly in neurodiverse relationships.
When anxiety increases pressure
One partner may try to fix things immediately to feel safe.
When avoidance protects from overload
The other partner may withdraw because emotional intensity feels overwhelming.
When mixed emotions cause confusion
Someone may reach for closeness while also fearing sensory and emotional strain.
When secure bonds become stressed
Even stable couples lose balance during extended periods of tension.
Once you understand your attachment patterns, your reactions start to make sense.
Here, therapy creates a structured space for truth, repair, and new patterns of respect and leadership at home. In intensive psychotherapy, each of these themes becomes an opening into deeper self-mastery.
The goal is not to diagnose or soften you. It is to help you meet yourself completely — and lead from a place of inner clarity that no success or failure can shake.

Frequently asked questions
How fast can we book a session?
You can usually book within a few days. Many mixed neurotype couples reach out when communication collapses, emotions escalate or one partner shuts down. The first session slows the pace so both nervous systems can settle and you can begin understanding the dynamic with more clarity and less fear.
What happens in the first session?
We unpack what has been happening between you, how each partner processes emotion and what triggered recent conflict or distance. You learn why certain moments escalate and how each of you protects yourselves under stress. You leave with stability, direction and a gentler emotional rhythm.
Do you offer a free thirty minute call before we book?
Yes. The call gives you space to describe your situation, ask questions and sense whether the pace and structure of neurodiverse couples therapy will feel safe for both of you. It helps you make a grounded decision instead of one driven by fear or urgency.
Do you offer any discounts or voucher cards?
Yes. After your first paid session you receive a ten percent digital voucher you can use for the next booking. Many couples appreciate this support, especially when working through a dynamic that requires consistency and emotional presence.
Do you offer online sessions if attending in person is difficult?
Yes. Online sessions work very well for neurodiverse couples, especially when travel, sensory overload or energy levels make in person attendance stressful. The screen provides quick access to support so you can focus on understanding each other without extra pressure.
Are sessions confidential with both of us present?
Yes. Everything shared stays in the room. Mixed neurotype dynamics often involve shame, fear, masking or emotional overload. Confidentiality creates the safety both partners need to express themselves honestly without fear of judgement or exposure.
Can this help even if we have very different communication needs?
Yes. Mixed neurotype couples often communicate at different speeds or interpret cues differently. We explore how each of you listens, responds and protects yourselves. Small changes can create much more clarity and safety between you.
Can we book evenings or weekends?
Yes. Mixed neurotype relationships often flare up outside regular hours. I offer flexible times so you can get support without waiting days while the emotional distance grows. Meeting quickly helps you reconnect before the pattern deepens.
Can we speak with you in English if we are an international couple?
Yes. Many clients are international couples navigating emotional, cultural and sensory differences. We slow the pace so you can understand each other’s communication styles and create more stability in your shared emotional world.
What if one of us struggles with shutdowns, masking or withdrawal?
These reactions often reflect overload, not rejection. We explore what triggers them and how each partner can respond without escalating the cycle. You learn how to reduce pressure and create safety so communication can return without force.
