An experienced psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and EFT couples therapy in Copenhagen

I am a certified psychotherapist (M.A.), the highest professional level recognised in both Denmark and England, and I work from my private practice in central Copenhagen as well as online.

For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across multiple countries and cultural contexts. My work integrates depth-oriented psychotherapy with a calm, grounded Danish presence.

Alongside my clinical practice, I have continued advanced training in couples therapy, supervision, and relational work. I am recently completed Master Class Further Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT therapy) for couples.

The importance of supervision

Good therapy begins with good supervision

I regularly meet with experienced senior psychotherapists in Denmark and abroad to reflect on my work, challenge my thinking, and continue developing my skills. This ongoing process supports the quality of my individual, couples, and family therapy, helping me offer thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.

My focus is simple: excellence, integrity, and impact.

What happens during neurodiverse couples therapy alone sessions?

Together we explore how your emotions, language, and sensory needs interact with your partner’s. You will learn how to stay grounded, communicate without blame, and recognise triggers before they escalate.

We focus on practical empathy — translating between two realities. You leave more confident, clearer in your communication, and ready to meet your partner from steadiness rather than reaction.

My approach as your psychotherapist

I help individuals understand and navigate the complexities of mixed-neurotype relationships. My approach is warm, direct, and grounded in more than twenty years of work with neurodiverse couples and families.

I combine emotion-focused and systemic therapy with process-oriented methods. Together we look beneath behaviour to the emotions and perceptions that drive it. You learn how to stay steady when communication feels uneven and how to reach for empathy rather than frustration.

Working alone gives space to reflect freely, build self-awareness, and prepare for new ways of relating. This is where lasting change begins.

What happens during sessions

Each session focuses on what is happening between you and your partner right now. You bring moments that feel confusing, painful, or stuck, and we look closely at what unfolds within you as they happen.

We slow time down enough for you to notice patterns of misunderstanding or emotional disconnection that often occur in neurodiverse relationships. You learn to recognise how differences in processing, communication, and sensory needs play out in daily life.

Together, we explore how you can speak more clearly, listen with less defensiveness, and bring emotional safety back into the connection. Each session ends with simple, concrete steps to try at home.

How your therapy process takes shape

We begin by clarifying your goals and emotional capacity. Some clients choose weekly sessions for steady progress. Others prefer a slower rhythm that allows reflection between meetings.

The process adapts as your insight grows. We start with what feels most immediate and expand to deeper relational patterns over time. Each phase includes practical guidance for daily communication and self-regulation.

You’ll begin to experience new confidence in how you handle difficult moments. As awareness strengthens, your influence within the relationship becomes clearer and more intentional.

Booking and payment for urgent therapy

You can book your session online or ask me to call you directly. Acute appointments are often available within a day or two.

You can pay by invoice, bank transfer, card, cash, or MobilePay. All sessions are prepaid. Psychotherapy is exempt from VAT, and prices are shown without VAT on my prices page.

If you cancel more than seven days before a session, there is no fee. Cancellations within seven days or no-shows are charged in full. This applies to both in-person and online sessions.

Voucher or clip cards can be refunded at any time. Any sessions already used are recalculated at the full listed price at the time of return. The remaining unused sessions are then refunded, minus a 20 per cent administration fee. You can always request a call or contact me if you need help arranging anything quickly.

If you want to know whether my way of working fits you, book a free 30-minute discovery call. We will find out if our level of depth and pace align.

Common crises I help couples with from Møntergade

These are some of the challenges I help couples navigate.

When one or both partners are neurodiverse, love and logic often pull in different directions. You may feel misunderstood, over-stimulated, or emotionally distant even when you care deeply.

When communication misfires

  • Literal or rapid-fire exchanges lead to confusion
  • One partner shuts down while the other seeks reassurance
  • Attempts to fix the problem trigger more frustration
  • Conversations feel unsafe or pointless

Therapy helps you translate each other’s signals and rebuild emotional clarity.

When sensory and emotional rhythms clash

  • One person needs quiet while the other needs connection
  • Everyday stress triggers big reactions
  • Social or sensory fatigue limits intimacy

We map the sensory landscape of your relationship and learn how to stay connected through difference.

When trust feels uncertain

  • Emotional distance becomes misread as indifference
  • Repeated misunderstandings erode confidence
  • One partner feels unseen or unappreciated

We slow the process to rebuild safety through transparency and care.

When burnout replaces closeness

  • Constant tension leaves you exhausted
  • You rely on routines instead of real contact
  • Even small conflicts feel unmanageable

Together, we restore energy, playfulness, and mutual compassion.

In neurodiverse couples therapy alone, I help you find new ways to connect — where both partners can feel safe, understood, and valued for who they truly are.

Thoughts about Neurodiverse couples therapy alone

Clarity before action, and support before solutions.

In neurodiverse relationship dynamics, it can be essential to pause and clarify what kind of support is truly needed. Here I explain how I approach this work, why meeting individually can create stability and perspective, and how clarity and containment come before change. The aim is to restore orientation and reduce overwhelm, so the next steps are taken with steadiness rather than urgency.

When you are the only one seeking help in a neurodiverse relationship

Being in a neurodiverse relationship can feel intense, confusing, or unpredictable, especially when you are seeking clarity and support while your partner is not ready for therapy. You may feel alone with the responsibility to fix things. You may feel overwhelmed by repeated misunderstandings, shutdowns, or emotional distance. You may also feel confused about how to communicate in ways that fit your neurotypes.

Coming alone is not a failure. It is a sign of strength. You are taking the first step toward understanding the dynamic, stabilising yourself, and creating change inside the relationship.

Neurodiverse couples therapy alone helps you understand the emotional and sensory patterns between you so you can act with clarity rather than fear, frustration, or self blame.

How therapy alone helps you stabilise the relationship

You learn how to understand the structure of your relationship so you stop reacting from fear and start responding from clarity.

Together we work on:

Understanding your cycle

You learn how sensory overload, emotional pressure, and communication differences shape the dynamic.

Reducing escalation

You learn how to slow conflict before it becomes too intense.

Protecting your emotional space

You learn boundaries that help you stay present without burning out.

Reading your partner’s signals accurately

You stop misinterpreting shutdowns or silence as rejection.

Communicating with clarity

You learn pace, tone, and timing that fit your partner’s processing style.
These steps help stabilise the relationship even if your partner is not in therapy.

Your attachment style and how it shows up in this relationship

Attachment influences how you react to neurodiverse stress.

When anxiety drives urgency

You may try to fix everything fast, speak too quickly, or overgive.

When avoidance becomes protection

You may shut down or withdraw to escape overwhelm.

When mixed emotions confuse you

You may want closeness but fear the intensity that comes with it.

When secure patterns strain under pressure

Even usually stable relationships become fragile under chronic overload.
Knowing your attachment pattern helps you respond with more balance and less fear.

What you can change alone

You can change:

  • Your reactions
  • Your pacing
  • Your communication style
  • Your expectations
  • Your emotional regulation
  • Your boundaries
  • Your part in the cycle

These changes ripple through the entire relationship.

Why neurodiverse couples often struggle when only one partner seeks therapy

It is common for neurodiverse partners to avoid therapy because they feel pressured, overwhelmed, or unsure how to talk about emotions. You may notice:

  • Your partner shuts down when conflict appears
  • Communication becomes confusing fast
  • Sensory overload leads to distance
  • Emotional intensity creates misunderstandings
  • One partner wants to talk and the other retreats
  • Meltdowns or shutdowns replace conversation
  • You carry most of the emotional load

Your partner is not avoiding therapy because they do not care. Often they are overwhelmed, unsure how to begin, or afraid of failing. That is why your individual work matters so much.

Understanding the neurodiverse couple dynamic when you come alone

Your relationship likely follows a pattern that repeats, especially under stress.

Sensory overload

One partner may become overwhelmed by emotional intensity, noise, or movement.

Shutdown

A partner may withdraw or become silent to protect their nervous system.

Emotional pursuit

The other partner may seek closeness fast when feeling disconnected.

Mask collapse

A partner may suddenly lose the ability to cope after holding things together.

Misinterpretation

Both partners may assume the worst because they process emotions differently.
Mapping these patterns brings immediate relief.

How to regulate yourself inside a neurodiverse relationship

You learn practical steps that reduce stress and create emotional space.

Slowing your pace

This keeps conversations calm and predictable.

Clear and simple communication

Direct language fits neurodiverse processing styles.

Reducing sensory pressure

You learn how to adjust environment, timing, and intensity.

Protecting your boundaries

You learn how to stay present without carrying more than your system can handle.
These tools shift the tone of the relationship quickly.

Here, therapy creates a structured space for truth, repair, and new patterns of respect and leadership at home. In intensive psychotherapy, each of these themes becomes an opening into deeper self-mastery.

The goal is not to diagnose or soften you. It is to help you meet yourself completely — and lead from a place of inner clarity that no success or failure can shake.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to help you decide whether therapy is right for you.

How fast can I book a session?

You can usually book within a few days. Many people begin alone because the dynamic with their neurodiverse or neurotypical partner feels confusing, overwhelming or stuck. The first session stabilises your system so you can understand what is happening and take clearer steps forward.

What happens in the first session?

We slow the emotional pace and explore the pattern between you and your partner. You learn why certain moments escalate, why shutdown or withdrawal happens and what your own nervous system needs. You leave with clarity, a calmer body and a plan for the days ahead.

Do you offer a free thirty minute call before we book?

Yes. The call gives you space to describe what you are experiencing and ask anything you need. Mixed neurotype dynamics can feel complex. The call helps you sense whether my approach feels safe and whether starting alone is the right first step for your situation.

Do you offer any discounts or voucher cards?

Yes. After your first paid session you receive a ten percent digital voucher that you can use toward your next booking. This gives you a little ease as you begin working through a dynamic that may already feel emotionally and mentally demanding.

Do you offer online sessions if travelling feels overwhelming?

Yes. Online sessions work very well for neurodiverse clients who experience sensory overload, anxiety or fatigue. The screen gives you quick access to support so you can focus on understanding the pattern and regulating your system without extra stress.

Are sessions confidential even though I am working alone?

Yes. Everything you share stays private. Neurodiverse relationship struggles can involve shame, confusion or fear of being misunderstood. Confidentiality gives you a safe space to explore your emotional truth without judgement or pressure.

Can this help even if my partner refuses therapy?

Yes. You can influence the relationship even alone. We explore your part of the pattern, what you can shift and how to communicate in ways that reduce pressure. When one person gains clarity and steadiness, the whole dynamic often begins to change.

Can I book evenings or weekends?

Yes. Mixed neurotype relationships often flare up outside standard hours. I offer flexible times so you can get help without waiting days while the emotional distance grows. Meeting quickly helps you respond with clarity rather than fear or urgency.

Can I speak with you in English if I am an expat?

Yes. Many clients are international couples navigating cultural, emotional and sensory differences. We slow the pattern down so you can understand both worlds and respond with more clarity and less emotional exhaustion.

What if I feel ashamed to start therapy without my partner?

This is very common. Starting alone does not mean your partner is the problem or that the relationship is failing. It means you are taking responsibility for the part you can influence. This is often the most effective first step in mixed neurotype relationships.

More frequently asked questions

What if we tried couples therapy before and it did not help?

Many neurodiverse couples leave therapy feeling misunderstood. Standard methods often miss sensory overload, pacing differences or shutdown cycles. Working alone helps you understand the real pattern so future joint therapy, if you choose it, becomes far more effective.

Can this help if my partner keeps shutting down or withdrawing?

Yes. Shutdown is usually overload, not rejection. We explore what triggers it, what you can shift and how to reduce pressure without abandoning your own needs. You learn to respond in ways that build more safety and reduce emotional distance.

What if misunderstandings escalate quickly between us?

This is one of the most common issues in mixed neurotype relationships. We slow the escalation, understand what each person hears or misses and help you respond in ways that stop the cycle from spiralling. You gain tools that reduce tension immediately.

What if I feel emotionally exhausted from the relationship?

Emotional fatigue often comes from holding the responsibility for connection and repair. We explore how this role formed and how to step out of it without creating more conflict. You learn how to protect your energy while still supporting the bond.

What if I still love my partner but feel lost in the pattern?

This is normal. Love and overwhelm often coexist in neurodiverse relationships. We explore what your heart needs, what your nervous system can handle and what the relationship can realistically hold. You leave with more clarity than fear.

What if I feel responsible for keeping the relationship together?

This is a common emotional role in mixed neurotype relationships. We explore how you took on that responsibility and how to step back into a balanced place without withdrawing or collapsing. You learn how to support the bond without burning out.

How do I know if I should move into full neurodiverse couples therapy later?

You will feel it when you gain enough clarity and regulation to bring your partner into the process. I help you sense the right timing so joint work becomes productive rather than overwhelming. Readiness guides the choice, not pressure.

Can this help if we struggle with different communication styles?

Yes. Mixed neurotype couples often misread cues or move at different emotional speeds. We examine how each of you communicates and how small shifts can create much more stability. You learn how to communicate in ways your partner can absorb.

Can I book more than one session per week?

Yes. Some clients choose to meet twice when the dynamic feels fragile or when you want to build momentum quickly. Frequent sessions help you stabilise your system, make clearer decisions and influence the relationship with confidence.

How do I know when it is time to end therapy?

You know it is time to end when your nervous system feels steadier, you understand the relational pattern clearly and you can navigate conflict or emotional distance without collapsing. Ending therapy is a sign of strength. You leave when you feel grounded and in control of your next steps.
