Discover clarity and calm within

Here I explain how therapy offers space to listen, reflect, and grow. You will hear how compassion and steady structure help you reconnect with strength and direction in daily life.

What is happens at a session of psychotherapy with Mark?

There is no perfect moment or single reason to begin psychotherapy.

Often the calling to grow starts with a quiet sense that something is not at peace inside you.

You may have noticed that you are more tense than usual, or that your emotions do not match the situation around you. Work may feel heavier, relationships may lose warmth, and your confidence may fade. Partners may give you feedback that feels difficult to hear. You may sense that you are repeating patterns or reacting in ways that surprise you.

Sometimes also, changes come from within. Dreams, impulses, or sudden feelings begin to signal that a deeper process wants attention.

These are all the natural invitations to begin therapy. In my experience, do not wait for a crisis or collapse. Instead, start when you are ready to understand yourself more clearly and to live with greater honesty and ease.

Psychotherapy starts when you are curious enough to listen to what your life is already trying to tell you.

I am here to help you.

An experienced psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and EFT couples therapy in Copenhagen

I am a certified psychotherapist (M.A.), the highest professional level recognised in both Denmark and England, and I work from my private practice in central Copenhagen as well as online.

For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across multiple countries and cultural contexts. My work integrates depth-oriented psychotherapy with a calm, grounded Danish presence.

Alongside my clinical practice, I have continued advanced training in couples therapy, supervision, and relational work. I am recently completed Master Class Further Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT therapy) for couples.

The importance of supervision

Good therapy begins with good supervision

I regularly meet with experienced senior psychotherapists in Denmark and abroad to reflect on my work, challenge my thinking, and continue developing my skills. This ongoing process supports the quality of my individual, couples, and family therapy, helping me offer thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.

My focus is simple: excellence, integrity, and impact.

What you need to know about my services

In the sections below, I explain my services clearly and concretely.
You can read what I offer, how I work, and what to expect, so you can orient yourself, settle your nervous system, and decide from a calm and informed place whether this support is right for you.

How do I pay for therapy

You can book your session online or ask me to call you directly. Acute appointments are often available within a day or two.

You can pay by invoice, bank transfer, card, cash, or MobilePay. All sessions are prepaid. Psychotherapy is exempt from VAT, and prices are shown without VAT on my prices page.

If you cancel more than seven days before a session, there is no fee. Cancellations within seven days or no-shows are charged in full. This applies to both in-person and online sessions.

Voucher or clip cards can be refunded at any time. Any sessions already used are recalculated at the full listed price at the time of return. The remaining unused sessions are then refunded, minus a 20 per cent administration fee. You can always request a call or contact me if you need help arranging anything quickly.

What happens if I have to cancel a session

Confidentiality is not optional in psychotherapy Copenhagen. It is a duty. My duty. Everything you share with me stays between us.

Confidentiality is the promise I make to every client. It protects your privacy and allows you to speak freely, knowing that your story is safe.

This is what creates real safety. You need to know that what you bring into therapy stays in the room. That is the foundation for honesty, trust, and depth.

The only exceptions are the legal requirements in Denmark. If I become aware of a clear plan to harm yourself or someone else, or if I suspect that a child is at risk, I am required by law to inform the authorities. If such a situation arises, we will always discuss it together first and handle it with care and transparency.

A custom short-term program for your development

An acute process is focused and time-limited. Together we decide how many meetings will help you regain balance and confidence. For some people, one or two sessions are enough; others continue for a short structured series.

Each meeting builds on the last. We move from crisis to clarity, from reactivity to reflection. You’ll learn how your nervous system and neurodiverse traits interact during stress and how to create small but powerful shifts.

Between sessions, you’ll receive practical steps to stabilise daily routines and family communication. The process is measurable and focused on recovery that holds.

My trainings and qualifications

For more than twenty years, I have dedicated my career to the study and practice of psychotherapy, couples therapy, and personal development. My education reflects both depth and range, built through recognised schools in Denmark and England.

  • ID Life Coach training with Ole Vadum Dahl at the ID Academy, Denmark
  • ID Psychotherapy education at the ID Academy, Denmark
  • BA and MA in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy from the University of East London, completed with merit
  • Advanced training in Couples Therapy based on Humanistic principles, Re-Vision, London
  • Family Therapist training with the Human Education Group, Denmark
  • Training in Imago Therapy, London
  • Master class specialist training in Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples, EFT-C, with the EFT Institute, Copenhagen

Each of these studies has refined how I understand emotional growth, communication, and human connection. They continue to shape how I work with you in couples therapy Copenhagen today.

Over the years, I have also attended a wide range of professional lectures, seminars, and advanced workshops. These include continuing education in psychotherapy, couples therapy, neuropsychology, neuroscience, behavioural therapy, and the study of brain plasticity across Europe.

I maintain regular professional supervision, peer consultation, and ongoing training, both in person and online. These practices keep my work reflective, ethical, and accountable to the highest international standards.

What you do between therapy sessions

Much of the real change in psychotherapy Copenhagen happens between our meetings. The space between sessions is where awareness begins to deepen and new habits take shape.

To support that process, I help you create a custom tool guide designed specifically for your personal growth and daily integration.

You will receive custom made tools that match your goals, learning style, and emotional process. These may include:

  • Journaling prompts that help you name your feelings and track your progress
  • Reflection exercises to understand repeating thoughts and reactions
  • Body awareness practices that help you notice tension, breath, and emotion
  • Simple mindfulness and breathing techniques to regulate your nervous system
  • Questions to ask yourself and the people close to you
  • Small behavioural experiments that invite new ways of relating
  • Creative practices such as drawing, music, or walking with awareness
  • Writing down your dreams and exploring them together through dream analysis
  • Exercises that bring forward unconscious material for reflection and integration
  • Guided meditations or visualisations that connect your inner and outer experience

In my clinical experience, this kind of work between sessions makes therapy come alive. You begin to see how insights from our conversations echo through your week, showing up in feelings, dreams, and daily choices.

Each tool is custom designed for you and evolves as your therapy deepens, helping you stay engaged and continue growing even when we are not in the room together.

Therapy can help you strengthen what already works well in you and expand your capacity for empathy, resilience, and joyful connection.

3 steps to rebuild trust, clarity, and connection

A guided process that reduces conflict, restores safety, and strengthens your relationship

Take the first step

Reach out and schedule your first couples therapy session. Even the decision to begin is a sign of commitment to your relationship.

Explore and understand

Together, we’ll uncover the patterns that keep you stuck, learn to communicate more openly, and start building new ways of connecting.

Grow and re-attach

Apply what you’ve learned inside and outside of sessions. Step by step, you’ll strengthen trust, intimacy, and partnership.

My approach as a psychotherapist

My approach to psychotherapy Copenhagen is both structured and deeply human. I draw on emotion focused, depth oriented, and evidence based methods, shaped by two decades of professional practice and ongoing training.

In my clinical experience, insight alone does not transform anyone. What creates change is the meeting between therapist and client. I stay present with you, helping you explore what happens in real time between us, because that is often where your patterns reveal themselves.

Over the past 20 years, I have worked with people from many cultures and languages. This has taught me that healing has its own pace. Sometimes it starts with silence, sometimes with tears, and sometimes with laughter.

My aim is to meet you where you are and to walk beside you until you can carry that awareness on your own.

Psychotherapy

Immediate, focused support when life feels overwhelming and you need help now

How attachment work connects with couples therapy

In my experience, attachment awareness becomes one of the most powerful tools in couples therapy. Once you understand your own attachment style and your partner’s, the arguments and distance between you begin to make sense.

You start to see that beneath every conflict lies a longing for connection, safety, or freedom.

In Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT C), I help you both recognise the moments when these attachment needs clash and how to respond differently. Together we learn to slow down, name the feelings underneath, and rebuild emotional safety step by step.

Over the past twenty years of working with couples in Copenhagen, I have seen how this process restores trust and intimacy. When each partner understands their patterns and learns how to stay emotionally present, the relationship becomes a place of healing rather than stress.

Attachment work is not about finding blame. It is about learning how to meet each other with awareness and care, so love can feel safe again.

A custom therapy plan designed for your life

Every person comes to psychotherapy Copenhagen with a different story, and therapy should reflect that. When you begin individual therapy Copenhagen with me, we create a custom therapy plan that fits your personal goals and pace.

For many clients, this takes the form of a custom 10 session course that we design together during our first meetings.

This kind of short term therapy gives our work a clear structure and direction. Ten sessions provide enough time to stay focused while still allowing us to explore deeper layers of emotion, history, and trauma. These patterns often appear when life changes unexpectedly or when something within you is ready to shift.

In my clinical experience, people benefit most when therapy combines depth with structure. A clear plan helps you stay committed and see real progress from week to week. To support that commitment, I offer a 10 percent discount card for clients who choose a 10 session custom program.

The result is a process designed around you. It stays flexible, personal, and deep enough to reach the real causes behind your challenges while helping you move forward with confidence and clarity.

How quickly does therapy work?

Therapy is not a race. Real change takes time, but progress often begins sooner than you expect. Many clients feel a sense of relief after the first meeting simply because they no longer have to carry everything alone.

In my experience, you start to notice change when you stay consistent and bring honesty into each session. For some, that happens after a few weeks. For others, it takes longer. The pace depends on what you want to explore and how ready you are to look inward.

Therapy works best when you feel safe, supported, and seen. My job is to create that foundation from the very first session so that you can begin your process of change with confidence.

If after our first session you feel we are not a good match, you are fully protected by a 100 percent money back guarantee. No questions, no pressure.

How do you find a good psychotherapist Copenhagen

Finding the right psychotherapist in Copenhagen can feel overwhelming. You may wonder who to trust, what to expect, and how to know if a therapist is truly right for you. The truth is that therapy only works when the relationship feels safe and natural.

In my experience, the most important factor is fit. You need to feel that you can talk openly, that I listen with care, and that there is space for both challenge and compassion. Good therapy begins with trust, not technique.

This is why I offer a 100 percent money back guarantee on our first session. If you feel we are not a good match, you will receive a full refund. No questions asked. You also have the option to start with a free 30 minute discovery call if you prefer to speak first and get a sense of how I work.

These options allow you to explore therapy with no risk and no pressure. My goal is to make it easy for you to find out if I am the right person to support you. When the connection feels right, therapy can become one of the most valuable investments in your life.

Getting the most out of therapy

Therapy works best when you bring your real self into the room. You do not need to know what to say or how to act. You only need to be honest about where you are. I meet you there.

In my 20 years of work as a psychotherapist, I have learned that progress is made through small steps repeated often. The biggest shifts happen when clients show up on difficult days, when it would be easier to stay home. Those are the sessions that change lives.

Use our time together as a place to practice being kind and truthful with yourself. Each time you do, you strengthen the muscles that create lasting change outside therapy too.

Areas I work with

Over the past twenty years, I have helped clients in Copenhagen and across cultures with a wide range of personal and relational challenges. Some come with a clear goal. Psychotherapy tailored to your needs

Every person comes to therapy with a different story, so our work together is always personal and flexible. Some clients prefer short term focused sessions to find clarity around one issue. Others need a longer process that allows deep exploration and gradual change.

In my experience with clients in Copenhagen, the rhythm of therapy is as important as the content. Weekly or biweekly sessions help you stay connected to the process and prevent old habits from taking over. We decide together what pace feels right for you.

I offer you a structure that adapts to your needs. The focus is always on creating steady progress, emotional safety, and clear outcomes that matter to you.

If you are ready for real work

Common issues I work with

Clear structure reduces pressure before the work even begins.

Over the years, I have met many people in Copenhagen who face similar struggles, even if their stories are different. You might recognise yourself in some of these situations:

When you struggle within yourself

  • Stress or feeling constantly on alert
  • Anxiety or racing thoughts that are hard to quiet
  • Early trauma or painful childhood experiences that still echo today
  • Low self-worth or feelings of inadequacy
  • Difficulty noticing or expressing your needs
  • Trouble sensing or setting boundaries
  • Difficulty making decisions or trusting your own judgement
  • Emptiness or a loss of meaning in daily life
  • Feeling trapped, stuck, or without freedom
  • Grief or heartbreak that does not ease with time
  • A wish for personal growth or self-understanding

When you struggle in your relationships

  • Repeating the same conflicts with your partner or family
  • Feeling emotionally distant or unseen by someone you love
  • Getting caught in jealousy or mistrust
  • Feeling stuck in an unhealthy relationship
  • Finding it hard to communicate needs without blame or withdrawal
  • Feeling unsafe to be yourself with others

In my clinical experience, these patterns often point toward a deeper wish for connection, clarity, and peace. Together we explore what stands in your way and help you find the strength to create change that feels both grounded and real.

When professional relationships turn rigid or cold

  • You lead with competence but feel unseen or unsupported.
  • Collaboration feels like compromise.
  • Delegation feels unsafe.
  • People follow you but few really know you.
  • You question whether leadership must always feel lonely.

Together, we examine how your success structure shapes your emotional life — and how to lead with both authority and authenticity.

When work becomes your addiction

  • You function at full speed and crash in silence.
  • Achievement replaces intimacy.
  • You use productivity to avoid feeling.
  • Even rest feels guilty or dangerous.
  • You have no language for pleasure that is not earned.
  • Difficulty receiving care or being vulnerable.

This work helps you reconnect to your body, your rhythm, and the simple capacity to be without performing.

When family systems repeat power and distance

  • Unspoken hierarchies shape your marriage and home.
  • One partner leads, the other compensates.
  • Affairs, secrecy, or withdrawal create quiet fractures.
  • Emotional distance has become normal.
  • Your children feel the tension but no one names it.

In intensive psychotherapy, we approach these themes with honesty and respect. Each one is an entry point into deeper awareness and stronger self-leadership. My goal is not to diagnose or fix you. My role is to help you see clearly, act decisively, and reconnect to the power that drives your best work and your best life.
When you understand the forces that shape you, your choices become deliberate again. You stop reacting. You start creating. That is the point where true freedom begins.

Here, therapy creates a structured space for truth, repair, and new patterns of respect and leadership at home. In intensive psychotherapy, each of these themes becomes an opening into deeper self-mastery.

The goal is not to diagnose or soften you. It is to help you meet yourself completely — and lead from a place of inner clarity that no success or failure can shake.

Structure, safety and commitment

Psychotherapy is grounded in confidentiality, professional ethics, and clear expectations. It is a structured yet reflective process designed to support growth — whether you are navigating a crisis, seeking deeper understanding, or entering a new phase of life. Below, you will find how the work is held, how change unfolds, and what you can expect from our collaboration.

A crisis can also be an opportunity for growth

Most people want to avoid difficult emotions like grief, guilt, or shame. It is natural to want to push pain away. Yet in my experience, the hardest moments in life often hold the most potential for growth.
Painful feelings cannot be erased. Trying to escape them usually makes them stronger. What helps is learning to meet them, understand them, and regulate them. When you start to listen to what your emotions are telling you, they begin to lose their power over you.

In psychotherapy Copenhagen, I help you turn toward what hurts instead of running from it. Together we slow down and bring awareness to the feelings that seem unbearable. Over time, you begin to see that pain can carry meaning, not just suffering.

When you stop fighting life and start listening, you become more resilient. You gain depth, perspective, and often a quiet sense of peace. That is where real development begins.

Can I only come to therapy if I have a problem?

You do not need to be broken to begin psychotherapy Copenhagen. Therapy is not about being fixed. It is about growing, learning, and understanding yourself more deeply.

Many people come to therapy not because something is wrong, but because something inside them is ready to develop. Some feel a quiet restlessness or a wish to live with more awareness. Others want to improve their relationships or make clearer choices in life.

As your therapist, I do not offer quick fixes or magic solutions. What I offer is a space where you can listen to yourself more fully and learn to trust what you find.

Over time, therapy helps you discover your own strength, clarity, and trust in life. You begin to see that growth is not a response to crisis, but a natural part of being human.

I am deeply passionate about psychotherapy and the change it can bring to people’s lives. I look forward to meeting you for a free 30 minute discovery call and to welcoming you to our first session together.

Understanding attachment styles in psychotherapy Copenhagen

In my 20 years of clinical practice, I have seen how much relief people find when they finally understand their attachment style. It is not a label but a map of how you learned to connect, protect, and love. Through therapy, we can explore these patterns so you can feel safer, freer, and more connected in your relationships.

Feeling safe and understood

If you have an anxious attachment style, you often long for closeness and reassurance. You may feel safe only when the other person is emotionally available and quickly sense distance as danger. In therapy, we explore how this sensitivity developed and how you can create a stronger sense of safety inside yourself.

Avoidant attachment style

If you lean toward an avoidant attachment style, independence may feel safer than closeness. You often prefer to handle things on your own and may withdraw when someone comes too close emotionally. Therapy helps you reconnect with your capacity for intimacy without losing your sense of freedom.

Some brief dilemmas that may bring you to therapy

  • You often worry that others will leave or lose interest in you
  • You need frequent reassurance but feel ashamed for asking
  • You find it hard to relax when communication is unclear
  • You feel pulled between love and fear of rejection
  • You want to build trust but do not know how to feel secure without constant contact

In therapy, I help you slow down and notice what happens in your body and emotions, so closeness begins to feel safe instead of fragile.

Some brief dilemmas that may bring you to therapy

  • You value independence but secretly feel lonely
  • You struggle to open up or trust others with your feelings
  • You feel uncomfortable when someone depends on you
  • You often appear calm while feeling tense inside
  • You end relationships when emotions become intense

In our work, I help you experience emotional contact in a way that feels safe, respectful, and steady, so you can stay connected without feeling trapped.

Disorganized attachment style

Disorganized attachment can feel confusing. You may want love and fear it at the same time. Often this pattern develops after early experiences of loss, neglect, or unpredictability. Therapy offers you a stable and caring space to understand these inner conflicts and to build a new sense of safety.

Secure attachment style

If you have a secure attachment style, you can usually rely on yourself and others. You feel comfortable giving and receiving love, and you can face conflict without losing trust. Still, even with a secure base, life transitions, stress, or loss can shake your balance.

Some brief dilemmas that may bring you to therapy

  • You want closeness but feel overwhelmed by it
  • You swing between reaching out and pulling away
  • You feel intense emotions that are hard to understand or control
  • You fear being hurt again and struggle to trust anyone fully
  • You sometimes see yourself as both the one who needs help and the one who must stay in control

In therapy, I stay present and grounded with you, helping you regulate emotions and create a steady sense of connection that your nervous system can begin to trust.

Some brief dilemmas that may bring you to therapy

  • You want to deepen emotional intimacy with your partner
  • You are facing major life changes and want to stay grounded
  • You sense old fears returning under pressure or grief
  • You want to grow further in self-awareness and emotional range
  • You wish to refine how you communicate and connect

Therapy can help you strengthen what already works well in you and expand your capacity for empathy, resilience, and joyful connection.

A supportive approach to therapy

A calm, balanced therapeutic space where both partners feel heard, understood, and guided toward clearer communication, renewed trust, and a stronger emotional connection.

Feeling safe and understood

Imagine walking into a room with your partner, unsure if therapy will really help. You might feel nervous, hesitant, or even skeptical. A good couples therapist is the one who immediately helps you feel safe and welcomed, someone who listens to both of you without judgment.

They notice the small details – how you talk to each other, what’s left unsaid, and the emotions behind your words. They guide conversations gently, helping you uncover patterns that have been keeping you stuck, while giving you practical tools to communicate better and rebuild trust.

Guided growth and connection

They guide conversations gently, helping you uncover patterns that have been keeping you stuck, while giving you practical tools to communicate better and rebuild trust. You know you’ve found the right therapist when you leave a session feeling understood, even if the work feels challenging. You feel that both your voice and your partner’s voice matter, and that the therapist is guiding you as a team rather than taking sides. Ultimately, it’s the sense of safety, clarity, and support you feel during and after sessions that shows you’re in the right place. Therapy becomes a shared journey, helping you and your partner grow closer, reconnect, and strengthen your relationship.

Online sessions with psychotherapy Copenhagen

Many of my clients choose online therapy because of busy lives and international schedules. It is a simple and flexible way to stay connected wherever you are in the world.

We can meet on Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp audio, WhatsApp video, or by phone. You can join from your home, your office, or even a hotel room while travelling. I have clients who connect from other countries, from business trips, or from quiet corners of their day. Everything works as long as you have privacy and a stable connection.

In my experience, online therapy is just as effective as meeting face to face. The depth, focus, and emotional contact remain the same. What matters is our presence and the intention you bring to the session.

Online therapy also offers full geographical flexibility. We simply agree beforehand how you prefer to meet. You can read more about my approach and setup for online therapy on my page Online Psychotherapy Copenhagen.

This format keeps your therapy consistent and alive, no matter where life takes you.

I am deeply passionate about psychotherapy and the change it can bring to people’s lives. I look forward to meeting you for a free 30 minute discovery call and to welcoming you to our first session together.

How psychotherapy helps you create real change

Over the years, I have met many people in Copenhagen who face similar struggles, even if their stories are different. You might recognise yourself in some of these situations:
Through psychotherapy, you begin to see yourself more clearly. You start noticing the patterns that have shaped your life and learn how to meet them with awareness instead of habit.
In my experience, therapy does not fix you. It helps you understand yourself deeply, so you can make conscious choices and live with greater self acceptance and confidence.

Here are some of the ways psychotherapy Copenhagen can help you grow:

Discover what gives meaning and direction in your life

We explore what truly matters to you and how to live in alignment with it

Notice how old family roles or expectations may still shape you

Together we uncover how the past still influences your present, so you can move beyond it.

Strengthen your sense of responsibility and decide what feels right for you

You learn to own your choices and act from inner clarity rather than pressure or guilt.

Find clarity in overwhelming or painful situations

You gain tools to understand what is happening inside you and to respond instead of react.

Reconnect with your body and learn to sense your limits and needs

You develop trust in your own signals and begin to set boundaries that protect your wellbeing.

Learn to regulate emotions when you feel flooded or disconnected

We work with breathing, grounding, and awareness to help you stay centered and calm.

Each of these steps builds strength and awareness. Over time, you begin to feel more whole, more grounded, and more capable of creating the life you want.

Psychotherapy for expats, relocation, and life transitions

This section explores how psychotherapy can support you through relocation, cultural differences, distance, and major life transitions — whether you are living in Denmark, moving between cultures, working across borders, or facing decisions that shape your family, identity, and future.

Practice and integration

In psychotherapy Copenhagen, insight alone is never enough. Change happens when you begin to practice new ways of being in real situations.

During our sessions, we explore your daily experiences and use them as a living classroom for growth. You get the chance to try out new ways of responding to stress, conflict, and emotional triggers while feeling supported and understood.

My role as your therapist is to give you feedback, guidance, and encouragement as you practice. The focus is not on being perfect but on being real and present.

Between sessions, you integrate what you have learned by applying it in simple, practical ways. This might mean pausing before reacting, speaking more honestly, or choosing calm over urgency.

Each time you practice, you strengthen the new patterns that support your emotional health and relationships.

Over time, therapy becomes more than conversation. What you practice with me becomes how you meet life itself — with more awareness, steadiness, and choice.

Who benefits from psychotherapy Copenhagen?

In my experience, everyone can benefit from psychotherapy Copenhagen. Therapy is not only for moments of crisis or pain. It is also for times when you want to understand yourself, grow, or find direction again.

Some people come because something painful has happened. A breakup. A loss. A sudden change that shakes the ground. Others come because life looks fine on the outside but feels empty or confusing inside.

Individual therapy Copenhagen is a shared process between you and me. It works best when you bring curiosity and a wish to learn. Together we explore how you respond to life, to others, and to yourself. You begin to see your patterns and learn new ways to meet what life brings.

We cannot control everything that happens. But we can change how we relate to it. When you become curious about your reactions, growth starts.

In my twenty years of practice, I have seen how awareness itself becomes the turning point. It brings freedom, clarity, and a sense of peace that begins to change everything.

Psychotherapy Copenhagen

When you begin psychotherapy with me in Copenhagen, we start from something simple and human. You talk, I listen, and together we begin to see the patterns that have shaped your life. Over time, this clarity helps you move from reacting to choosing, from confusion to calm understanding.

In my clinical experience, what heals is not clever technique but genuine presence. Over the past 20 years, I have learned that real change happens when you feel seen, not analysed. My role is to help you notice what is already unfolding inside you, and to give you the courage to meet it.

You might come to therapy because you feel anxious, disconnected, or uncertain about your direction. Or you may simply want to grow. Whatever brings you here, psychotherapy Copenhagen gives you a steady space to understand yourself and to create change that lasts.

A safe space to meet yourself

In individual psychotherapy, you and I work closely to understand what life is asking of you right now. You bring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences into a private, calm setting where nothing needs to be hidden.

Throughout my years of seeing clients in Copenhagen, I have learned that people change most when they are not being judged. In this space, you do not have to perform or impress anyone. You can simply be real. Together, we begin to map how your inner world responds to life’s challenges.
My job is not to tell you what to do but to help you hear yourself more clearly. I guide you to connect your emotions, thoughts, and body sensations so that you can act from awareness rather than habit. As our work unfolds, you begin to trust yourself again and to meet life with greater confidence and peace.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to help you decide whether therapy is right for you.

What is psychotherapy in simple terms?

Psychotherapy is a structured conversation that helps you understand yourself and your reactions. You talk, I listen, and together we explore what lies beneath the surface of your feelings and behaviour. The goal is not to diagnose you but to help you recognise your patterns and create change. Therapy is where you can speak freely without fear of judgement. Over time, you begin to make sense of your experiences and find new ways of responding to life.

How do I know if I need psychotherapy?

You do not have to be in crisis to begin therapy. You might simply feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who you are becoming. You may notice repeating conflicts, stress that does not fade, or sadness that lingers. Therapy helps when you want to understand yourself better and move beyond old ways of coping. If you often feel that life could be clearer or lighter, that is usually a sign that therapy could help.

How is psychotherapy different from talking to a friend?

A friend cares, but a therapist listens with professional focus and neutrality. In therapy, you are not given advice or opinions. You are guided to understand yourself and your patterns. The space is private, non-judging, and completely focused on your process. Over time, you begin to see the difference between comforting talk and structured inner work. A friend wants you to feel better. A therapist helps you discover how to live better.

How long does psychotherapy take?

There is no fixed timeline. Some people find what they need in a few weeks. Others continue for months or years because the work keeps unfolding. Together we decide the pace and length based on your goals. Many clients choose my ten-session program to start, as it gives clear focus and depth. Therapy is a process, not a quick fix. The rhythm of sessions becomes part of your growth.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a conversation where we get to know each other. You can share what brings you here and what you hope to change or understand. I listen, ask questions, and offer reflections to help us both see where to begin. There is no pressure to share everything at once. My goal is to create a calm, confidential space where you can speak openly and start feeling supported.

What is the role of trust in psychotherapy?

Trust is everything. Therapy only works when you feel safe to be honest. My role is to earn that trust by listening carefully, keeping strict confidentiality, and respecting your boundaries. Nothing you say leaves the room. Over time, trust grows naturally. Once you feel safe, deeper work becomes possible. Real transformation begins when you can be completely yourself.

Can therapy help if I feel lost or without direction?

Yes. Many people come to therapy when they feel empty or unsure of what matters anymore. Together we explore where that sense of loss comes from and what it might be asking of you. This process helps you reconnect with meaning and purpose. Therapy gives you tools to listen to yourself again and to rebuild direction in small, real steps.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

It is completely natural to feel nervous. Most people do. You are stepping into something new and personal. I will guide the conversation gently so you can relax and find your rhythm. You can always take things at your own pace. Nervousness often fades once you experience how safe and respectful therapy feels. The courage to start is already part of the healing.

How does psychotherapy help me deal with stress and anxiety?

Therapy helps you understand how stress and anxiety work in your body and mind. Together we explore what triggers these feelings and what they are trying to tell you. You learn to notice early signals, calm your nervous system, and respond differently. Over time, anxiety loses its grip. Instead of being controlled by stress, you begin to guide your energy with more awareness and control.

What is dream work and how do we use it in therapy?

Dreams are messages from your unconscious mind. They often show what your waking life hides. In therapy, I may invite you to write down your dreams and bring them to our sessions. We explore symbols, emotions, and recurring themes. You begin to see how your inner world speaks through images and metaphors. Dream work can reveal deep insight and accelerate emotional integration.

More common FAQs

Can psychotherapy help with relationship problems?

Yes. Therapy helps you understand how your emotions, attachment style, and communication patterns affect your relationships. Whether you come alone or with your partner, we work to restore connection and trust. You learn how to express needs clearly, set boundaries kindly, and listen more deeply. Many clients find that as they grow individually, their relationships become more honest and alive.

Is online psychotherapy as effective as in-person sessions?

Yes. In my experience, online therapy is just as effective as meeting face to face. We can meet by Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp, or phone. The quality of connection depends on our focus, not the format. Many of my clients travel internationally or work in demanding roles. Online therapy allows full flexibility while maintaining the same depth and confidentiality as in-person sessions.

What if I do not know what to talk about?

That is completely fine. Many people start without clear words for what they feel. I will guide you through gentle questions and reflections until you find your own starting point. Silence is also part of therapy. Sometimes what needs to emerge comes through pause rather than speech. The process unfolds naturally when we allow space for it.

What if I become emotional in a session?

Emotions are welcome in therapy. You can cry, sit quietly, or express anger. Everything is allowed. This is a safe space for the parts of you that may not have had room before. Emotions are not a problem to fix but information to understand. When you allow them to be seen and felt, they begin to lose their weight and become part of your healing.

Can psychotherapy help after a divorce or loss?

Yes. Many clients come after a breakup, divorce, or bereavement. Therapy helps you process the shock, grief, and change that follow major loss. You learn how to face pain without being consumed by it. Together we find meaning in what has ended and rebuild your sense of self. Healing does not erase pain, but it transforms it into understanding and strength.

How can I contact you between sessions?

You can reach me on WhatsApp if you need short support between sessions. You can send a message, a photo, a link, or a short note from your journal. If needed, you can request a ten-minute lifeline call. I am usually available every day. My rule is simple. If I am awake and available, I am yours. These brief check-ins help you stay grounded without breaking the flow of therapy.

What happens if I miss or cancel a session?

Life happens. I try to be flexible when rescheduling within the week. If you cancel more than seven days in advance, there is no charge. For cancellations within seven days or missed sessions, the full fee applies. This helps maintain structure and fairness for all clients. If you use a voucher card, unused sessions can be refunded with a small administration fee. Communication always comes first.

How do you keep my information private?

Everything you share with me is fully confidential. I follow GDPR rules and the professional ethical codes of the UKCP, BACP, and MPF. Your privacy is absolute. The only exceptions are the legal duties in Denmark to report risk of harm to self, others, or minors. If such a case arises, we discuss it together first. Confidentiality is my duty, not an option.

What is dream work and how do we use it in therapy?

My work combines twenty years of international experience with a deeply personal approach. I bring a mix of academic training, human understanding, and lived cultural insight. I have worked with clients from many countries, backgrounds, and belief systems. Therapy with me is practical, emotionally grounded, and tailored to your life. You also have access to flexible online sessions, a ten percent discount on ten-session programs, and a full money-back guarantee on our first meeting.
