In this video, I explain how intensive couples therapy creates transformation in days rather than months. You will hear how concentrated sessions help you rebuild trust, heal patterns, and reconnect fully.

What is intensive couples therapy Copenhagen?

This format is for couples ready to work deeply. You may be facing distance, betrayal, or recurring conflict and want change now.

Intensive work allows full focus without interruption. Across a day or weekend, we address your core cycle, the emotions beneath it, and the longing that keeps you together.

You learn to listen, speak, and respond with new understanding. The result is momentum and hope.

An experienced psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and EFT couples therapy in Copenhagen

I am a certified psychotherapist (M.A.), the highest professional level recognised in both Denmark and England, and I work from my private practice in central Copenhagen as well as online.

For more than twenty years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families across multiple countries and cultural contexts. My work integrates depth-oriented psychotherapy with a calm, grounded Danish presence.

Alongside my clinical practice, I have continued advanced training in couples therapy, supervision, and relational work. I am recently completed Master Class Further Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT therapy) for couples.

The importance of supervision

Good therapy begins with good supervision

I regularly meet with experienced senior psychotherapists in Denmark and abroad to reflect on my work, challenge my thinking, and continue developing my skills. This ongoing process supports the quality of my individual, couples, and family therapy, helping me offer thoughtful, ethical, and effective care.

My focus is simple: excellence, integrity, and impact.

What you need to know about my services

What happens during intensive couples therapy sessions?

Each session moves between guided dialogue, reflection, and practical exercises drawn from Emotion-focused couples therapy. You both learn to slow down, hear each other, and express needs clearly.

We stay close to what matters most so trust can rebuild in real time.

By the end, you leave with tools and awareness that strengthen your connection long after the sessions end.

How your intensive program takes shape

Each intensive program is created uniquely for you as a couple. We start by identifying your goals — whether you need crisis repair, emotional reconnection, or deeper understanding.

Some couples work across two consecutive days; others choose several shorter blocks. The pace depends on your needs and how much integration time you prefer between sessions.

You’ll receive guidance between meetings to continue your dialogue at home. Over time, your awareness of each other deepens, and new habits of connection begin to replace old cycles of defence and distance.

What happens during intensive sessions

We meet for extended sessions, often across one or more consecutive days. This format gives enough time to go deep without losing focus.

Together we identify your core issues — disconnection, recurring conflict, loss of intimacy, or betrayal — and trace them back to the emotional signals that drive your reactions.

We practise new ways of speaking and listening that make both of you feel heard. You’ll leave each day knowing what changed, what still needs care, and how to continue at home.

This work can be demanding, but it’s also where couples often rediscover closeness and hope.

Booking and payment for your intensive program

You can book your session online or ask me to call you directly. Acute appointments are often available within a day or two.

You can pay by invoice, bank transfer, card, cash, or MobilePay. All sessions are prepaid. Psychotherapy is exempt from VAT, and prices are shown without VAT on my prices page.

If you cancel more than seven days before a session, there is no fee. Cancellations within seven days or no-shows are charged in full. This applies to both in-person and online sessions.

Voucher or clip cards can be refunded at any time. Any sessions already used are recalculated at the full listed price at the time of return. The remaining unused sessions are then refunded, minus a 20 per cent administration fee. You can always request a call or contact me if you need help arranging anything quickly.

My approach as your couples therapist

Intensive couples therapy is for those who want meaningful change now. I combine structure with depth so you can move beyond repeating arguments into real emotional contact.

My approach draws from Emotion-focused couples therapy, attachment theory, and process-oriented work. We explore the emotional logic beneath conflict — how each of you protects yourselves when you feel unseen or unsafe.

Having sat with hundreds of couples over two decades, I know that when partners risk honesty, something new can begin. I help you create that moment of truth and guide you through it safely.

The work is focused, experiential, and designed to create lasting repair.

If you want to know whether my way of working fits you, book a free 30-minute discovery call. We will find out if our level of depth and pace align.

The anatomy of an intensive couples process

Some relationships need more than an hour a week. When patterns repeat or distance feels too deep, intensive couples therapy gives time and focus to rebuild trust and connection.

When communication stops

You may talk for hours yet feel unheard. Together we find the moments where understanding breaks and learn how to reach each other again.

When trust cracks

Betrayal, neglect, or years of quiet withdrawal can erode safety. We slow down, speak honestly, and begin rebuilding the ground beneath you.

When emotions dominate

Strong feelings often hide unmet needs. I help you listen beneath anger and fear until empathy re-emerges.

How Intensive couples therapy supports you in crisis

Clear information, steady structure, and support you can orient by.

Below, I describe how I offer intensive couples therapy in Copenhagen at Møntergade. My aim is to give you clarity about the work, so you feel settled, informed, and supported before taking the next step.

My role as your therapist

I remain balanced, curious, and direct. My reflections guide you back toward empathy and responsibility.

Common crises I help couples with from Møntergade

Here are some of the struggles that often bring people to my practice.

In intensive couples therapy, I meet partners who want real change — not small improvements, but deep repair.

When conflict becomes constant

  • Arguments repeat without resolution
  • One partner withdraws, the other pursues
  • Every attempt to talk ends in blame or silence
  • You feel stuck between anger and despair

In intensive sessions, we stay with the pattern long enough to reach what lies beneath it.

When trust is broken

  • Secrets, betrayal, or emotional withdrawal have damaged closeness
  • Forgiveness feels impossible
  • Fear or shame block new intimacy

Therapy provides a safe structure to face truth together and begin rebuilding safety.

When distance feels unbearable

  • You live like roommates instead of lovers
  • Emotional and physical connection feel lost
  • You want to stay together but don’t know how

Through focused days of work, we help you remember what it means to be a team again.

When exhaustion takes over

  • Repeated fights leave you numb
  • You avoid difficult topics to keep the peace
  • Hope fades even while love remains

Intensive work allows the time and containment needed for real reset and renewal.

In intensive couples therapy, I help you stabilise communication, understand deeper needs, and rebuild emotional intimacy that lasts beyond the crisis.

Thoughts about Intensive couples therapy

Clarity before action, and support before solutions.

In moments of acute relationship strain, it helps to pause and understand what kind of support is actually needed. Here I explain how I approach intensive couples therapy, why meeting alone can be stabilising, and how clarity and containment come before change. The aim is to restore orientation so your next steps are taken with steadiness rather than urgency.

When your relationship needs concentrated help now

There are moments when weekly therapy is not enough. The conflict repeats. Trust feels fragile. Communication is strained. You may feel distant from each other or stuck in a pattern that neither of you knows how to change. You may be recovering from a shock, a betrayal, a long standing disconnection, or a period where you both grew apart.

You may feel that things cannot continue as they are. You need focused support that moves you forward fast.

Intensive couples therapy gives you several hours of concentrated work, often across one or two days, so you can get clarity, calm, and direction without waiting week after week. You step out of the crisis cycle and into a space where repair becomes possible again.

How intensives help you find clarity and connection again

Intensive therapy gives you the space and time to go deep without pressure. You both arrive, settle, and begin the work with full focus. You do not rush through your feelings. You do not push your pain aside. You do not leave mid process only to pick it up a week later.

Together we work on:

Slowing the emotional pace

You learn how to talk without reacting from fear or defence.

Understanding the cycle that traps you

You see how each of you reacts and how the pattern repeats.

Rebuilding emotional safety

You learn how to stay present even when the conversation becomes vulnerable.

Repairing trust and communication

You practise conversations that bring understanding rather than conflict.

Strengthening connection

You rediscover the parts of the relationship that still hold life and warmth.
Intensives give you time to breathe, reflect, and reconnect without interruption.

What intensives help you repair

You learn how to repair the parts of the relationship that have been injured or ignored.

Emotional connection

You learn how to stay present with each other without fear.

Communication

You speak calmly and clearly, even when the topic is difficult.

Trust

You learn how to rebuild trust through small, consistent steps.

Boundaries

You set boundaries that protect the relationship rather than divide it.

Old wounds

You learn how past experiences influence your reactions today.
This process brings strength, clarity, and connection back into the relationship.

Why couples choose intensive therapy

Couples come for intensives when they want depth, speed, and stability. You may choose this format because:

  • The conflict escalates too fast at home
  • You feel stuck and cannot break the cycle alone
  • You want a structured way to repair trust
  • You are recovering from a shock or betrayal
  • You want to reconnect after drifting apart
  • You feel urgency and do not want to wait weeks
  • One or both partners need a more focused approach

In an intensive, you get uninterrupted time to work through what matters most. You leave with clarity, understanding, and a plan you can rely on.

What a typical intensive session looks like

Intensives usually take place over one or two consecutive days. This creates a powerful and steady momentum.

Day one

We explore the problem clearly. You learn how the conflict repeats. We slow everything down so you can listen and speak without fear. You begin to understand each other’s needs, emotions, and internal triggers.

Day two

We deepen the work. You learn how to reconnect safely. You practise new forms of communication. You repair emotional ruptures and build a plan for stabilising the relationship at home.
Every intensive is tailored to your needs and your emotional capacity.

How your attachment patterns shape your conflicts

Attachment patterns become highly visible under stress. Intensives give you the time to understand how these patterns move between you.

When anxiety pulls one partner closer

One of you may pursue closeness fast when you feel hurt or scared.

When avoidance pushes the other partner away

The other may withdraw because the emotional load feels overwhelming.

When mixed signals create confusion

You may both want closeness but fear the vulnerability it requires.

When secure bonds feel shaken

Even strong relationships can lose balance during conflict.
Understanding these attachment patterns gives you compassion for each other and a clear way forward.

What you can change together in an intensive

You can change:

  • How you speak
  • How you listen
  • How you regulate emotions
  • How you respond to conflict
  • How you repair after arguments
  • How you create connection
  • How you show care

These changes create stability and hope.

Here, therapy creates a structured space for truth, repair, and new patterns of respect and leadership at home. In intensive psychotherapy, each of these themes becomes an opening into deeper self-mastery.

The goal is not to diagnose or soften you. It is to help you meet yourself completely — and lead from a place of inner clarity that no success or failure can shake.

Get in touch

Intensive couples therapy

Stability first. Influence follows.

In moments of acute relationship strain, progress does not come from trying harder or pushing your partner to change. It comes from understanding your own emotional patterns, limits, and points of influence within the relationship. When you act with greater steadiness and clarity, the dynamic between you often begins to shift in meaningful ways.

What cannot change in a single intensive

Some things need time:

  • Old wounds
  • Long held resentment
  • Trauma
  • Attachment insecurity
  • Deep patterns that formed years ago

An intensive gives you a strong start. It creates momentum. It gives you clarity. But deeper transformation continues in the days and weeks that follow.

How intensive therapy guides your long term path

I help you understand what your relationship needs to stay strong.

What is alive and worth nurturing

You learn what still works between you.

What needs boundaries

You see what drains the connection or creates confusion.

What your next days should look like

You leave the intensive with a simple, clear plan that protects the work you have done.

What your first intensive session gives you

A clear understanding of the relationship cycle

You see why the conflict repeats.

Emotional grounding

You feel calmer and more centred.

Communication tools that work immediately

Small shifts create big changes.

A plan for the next days

You leave with structure, clarity, and direction.

When progress becomes visible

You will begin to notice:

  • Calmer conversations
  • Fewer misunderstandings
  • Less defensive reactions
  • More openness
  • Softer tone
  • New understanding
  • Moments of genuine connection

These are signs that the work is taking root.

My approach to intensive couples therapy

I guide you with calm structure and respect for your emotional limits. I help you slow the pace, understand each other’s world, and rebuild safety. You get direct guidance, practical tools, and a deep sense of support throughout the entire intensive.

My goal is to help you shift the relationship from tension to connection.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to help you decide whether therapy is right for you.

How fast can we book an intensive couples therapy start date?

You can usually begin within a few days. I keep time available for couples who want to work deeply and without long gaps between sessions. The intensive format gives you continuity so we can move through core patterns with clarity and steady emotional momentum.

What happens in the first intensive session?

Your first session establishes the emotional foundation for the whole process. We explore what brought you here, how your bond has been strained and what each of you needs to feel safe enough to go deeper. You leave with a shared understanding of the work ahead and the stability to begin it.

Do you offer a free thirty minute call before we commit?

Yes. The call gives you space to understand the process, ask practical questions and sense whether the intensive structure feels right. Couples often feel more grounded after hearing how the work unfolds and what kind of emotional support I offer along the way.

Do you offer any discounts or voucher cards?

Yes. After your first paid session you receive a ten percent voucher which you can use during the intensive program. Many couples appreciate this when they are investing in deeper work that requires more time and energy in a short period.

Do you offer online intensive sessions if we cannot attend in person?

Yes. Online intensive work is possible and can be just as effective. Some couples prefer it for comfort, privacy or travel reasons. We create the same focused rhythm so you gain the depth, continuity and clarity that the intensive structure is designed to provide.

Are sessions confidential with both of us present?

Yes. Everything shared stays in the room. You need a safe place to speak about fear, hurt, longing and hope. Confidentiality allows both partners to open up, explore difficult emotions and build trust without worrying about judgement or exposure.

How does intensive therapy differ from weekly couples therapy?

Intensives move faster because there is no gap between sessions. You stay close to the emotional process, which makes it easier to shift patterns, repair old wounds and build new ways of connecting. Many couples find intensives help them break through issues that felt stuck for years.

Can we book evenings or weekends?

Yes. Many couples choose intensives specifically because they need flexibility around work, children or travel. I offer extended hours so we can create an uninterrupted process that fits your life and supports emotional continuity throughout the work.

Can we speak with you in English if we are an international couple?

Yes. I work with many international couples who want therapy in clear, simple English. I help you slow the emotional pace, understand cultural differences and build a shared language for your inner worlds. Many couples find this grounding and reassuring.

What if one of us feels nervous or ashamed to go so deep?

This is normal. Going deep can feel scary, especially if past conflict has left you exposed or defensive. We go slowly and safely. My role is to help each of you feel steady enough to open up without becoming overwhelmed. Depth happens when safety grows, not through pressure.

More frequently asked questions

What if we have tried couples therapy before and it did not help?

Many couples come after difficult experiences elsewhere. Often the pace was too slow or the core emotional pattern was not understood. Intensive work lets us stay with the pattern long enough for real change to begin. For many couples this finally feels like movement.

Can intensives help if we are dealing with betrayal or broken trust?

Yes. Trust injuries need time, pace and emotional clarity. The intensive format allows us to work through hurt, fear and repair without losing momentum between sessions. You gain a clearer sense of what happened and what each of you needs for the relationship to heal.

Can intensives help if communication always escalates or breaks down?

Yes. When communication collapses quickly, the longer sessions help you understand the triggers, slow your reactions and build new habits together. You learn how to respond instead of reacting, which helps both partners feel safer and more connected.

Can we do an intensive even if we have been distant for a long time?

Yes. Distance often grows when couples do not have enough time or emotional space to reconnect. Intensives give you a focused environment to rediscover each other’s inner worlds and begin building a new foundation of closeness and trust.

What if one of us is not sure we want to continue the relationship?

This is a common reason couples choose intensives. The process helps you understand what is real, what is fear and what is longing. You gain clarity about your bond, your needs and your direction. Many couples leave with a decision rooted in emotional truth rather than confusion.

Can we book more than one intensive cycle?

Yes. Some couples complete one round and choose another once they have processed the first layer of work. Intensives can be spaced out or continued back to back depending on what your relationship needs and how much emotional capacity you have at the time.

How will we know if the intensive process is working?

You will feel more clarity, more safety and more emotional contact. Communication becomes steadier, conflict softens and you understand each other’s reactions with more compassion. Progress often shows up as less fear and more willingness to reach toward each other.

Can we include work on intimacy during the intensive?

Yes. Intimacy often reflects deeper emotional patterns. We explore how to create safety, vulnerability and connection. You learn how to approach physical closeness in ways that feel grounded and respectful of each person’s emotional pace and nervous system.

How do we know if we should choose intensive couples therapy instead of weekly sessions?

You might choose intensives when you feel stuck, disconnected or unable to make progress with weekly work. Intensives give you continuity and depth that weekly sessions cannot. You know it is right when you want focused support and feel ready for deeper emotional exploration.

How do we know when it is time to end therapy?

You know it is time to end when you feel more connected, able to navigate conflict without losing each other and confident in your emotional tools. You leave when you feel steady enough to continue building your relationship without regular support. Ending is a sign of strength, not avoidance.
